Our Purpose

The Department of Emergency Preparedness at All-Med Services of Florida is responsible for coordinating all activities related to emergency preparedness and continued operations in the even of a natural or man made disaster, act of terrorism or disease outbreak.

PLEASE REMEMBER

All-Med Services of Florida is NOT an Emergency Service.

For all emergencies, please call 911

All-Med Services phone system:

If for any reason All-Med Services of Florida looses its main telephone system, we will utilize our answering service, cell phones and call forwarding service to continue receiving calls and servicing our patients.

Special Needs Shelters:

Special Needs Shelters are designed for individuals who have a special medical need or require evacuation assistance.  At All-Med Services of Florida we can assist you in pre-registering with a Special Needs Shelter in your county.  Give us a call !!!

Please note that a Special Needs Shelter should be a place of last resort.

Emergency Back-Up Oxygen:

Prior to the start of Hurricane Season, All-Med Services of Florida will initiate its Pre Hurricane Delivery of Emergency Back-Up Oxygen systems to patients.  We initiate this plan due to the high possibility of losing power during and after a storm.  Patients need to be self sufficient with emergency back-up oxygen for at least 48 hours due to difficulties we may encounter getting to you after a storm.

Disaster Supplies You Should Have On Hand:

  • Lanterns, Flashlights and Extra Batteries
  • Portable, battery-operated radio or TV with extra batteries
  • First Aid Kit
  • Non-perishable food
  • Water (1) gallon per person per day
  • Prescription and Non Prescription Medication
  • Manual Can Opener
  • Cash
  • Fire Extinguisher
  • Mosquito Repellant
  • Sun Screen
  • Ice Chest with Ice
  • Duct Tape for Repairs (not to tape windows)

Evacuation Zones:

All patients that live in an evacuation zone who are required to evacuate should do so immediately after the order to evacuate is given by authorities.  You should take all your disaster supplies with you as well as any medical equipment you may need.  Contact All-Med Services to update us as to where you will be evacuating to.

Generator Safety:

  • NEVER use a generator inside home, garage, shed or similar area, even when using fans or opening doors and windows for ventilation.
  • Follow instructions that come with your generator.  Locate the unit outdoors and far away from doors, windows and vents that could allow Carbon Monoxide to come indoors
  • NEVER try to power the house wiring by plugging the generator into a wall outlet. This is extremely dangerous to you, your neighbors and utility workers.
  • NEVER refuel a generator while it is running.  Turn it off and let it cool down. Gasoline spilled on hot engine parts could ignite and cause a fire.
  • Use appropriate grade indoor / outdoor extension cords.

Oxygen Concentrators and the use of Portable Generators:

DURING THE STORM, use your oxygen concentrator up until the power goes out, then switch to using your emergency back-up oxygen cylinder provided until the storm has passed.

AFTER THE STORM, use your oxygen concentrator and portable generator as follows:

  • Oxygen concentrator needs to remain inside the home.
  • Portable Generator needs to be outside the home following the Generator Safety information mentioned above.
  • Use a heavy duty indoor / outdoor extension cord to connect the concentrator to the generator.
  • If you have any questions regarding the use of a Concentrator and Portable Generator, please call All-Med Services of Florida at: 1-800-369-1416
